REVIEW & SWATCHES | Peripera Peri's Tint Water in #5 Strawberry Juice (딸기 쥬스)
4:32 AMEver since the ancient times, don't women always want rouged, red lips? The ancient Chinese used vermilion, the Greeks used mulberries, the Victorian-Age British bit their lips (rouge was deemed immoral back then). Tinted lips have always been associated with beauty, despite changing standards.
Fortunately, we don't need to crush beets anymore. Lip tints are all the hype now, with literally every brand releasing their own. "Natural! Just-bitten!" are shoved in every ad. The Benetint is still a classic, the YSL oil tint was huge last year, Tarte came out with LipSurgence, and so on. I remember 2 years ago when the Korean gradient lip started trending. I was dying for a tint, drooling over Tony Moly and Etude. I didn't get my hands on one, so I resorted with lipsticks. It kind of did the job, but it just wasn't the same.
Then I had a bunch of other tints that were great, but I still longed for a watery tint like Benetint, which was runny, sheer, and rose-scented. After lots of purchases that never happened and research, I think I've finally found the perfect dupe that is, seriously, better (and a fraction of the price). That is Peripera's Peri's Tint Water, my new love affair.

Packaging
When it comes to cute packaging, leave it to the Koreans. Egg shaped hand creams, bunny lip tints, macaron lip balms, and all the good stuff. Peri's tint is no exception to that. The first thing I thought was the box looked like milk carton, only with a cartoon of this gothic girl who coincidentally looks like Janis from Mean Girls. If you're familiar with Kpop, chances are you've seen the girl somewhere. The art was designed by Mari Kim, who also was the illustrator for 2NE1's Hate You video (awesome song btw).
The tint itself comes in a glass bottle, again with Janis' face. The cap closes really securely, and it's super important since the tint's more watery than anything. Put it upside down and you get an Alfred Hitchcock movie set.
The applicator's a simple, no-fuss doe foot wand. It's fuzzy and comfortable on the lips. I don't know why but it tickles my lips hahaha. Other than that, it's pretty self-explanatory.
Swatches
I got this in #5 Strawberry Juice, which is actually the enhanced version of the previous shade, Candy Juice. People get confused because some websites mix these two up. Just putting it out there that Candy Juice is no longer manufactured and replaced with Strawberry Juice.
Strawberry Juice's color is exactly like its name. I would say it's a matte pink-y red with some orange mixed in. Basically, it looks like blended strawberries on your lips. Or the color your lips have after having red Fanta and a cheeseburger from McDonald's, minus the grease.
The pigmentation is amazing, which is unexpected. I didn't think it would be this pigmented because it's water-based. One stroke is perfect for the flushed lips look, while you can build it up to a "I just ate hot wings and it burns" look. I find it pretty hard to build this up to a full coverage, they always just end up on my inner lips. They do look really good on the lips. It's not too pink, not too red, not too dark. Just your natural lips, but alive.
Performance
The formula of this tint's very, very runny, it's literally colored water. The color and pigmentation is lyfe. The color gives off summery vibes (it's ALWAYS summer in Jakarta). I first bought this tint for the purpose of it being a daily lip color for school. Turns out it's a tad too vibrant, but turns into a natural color after a few lip smacks. I find this hard to blend, as I said, it always ends up on my inner lips. Maybe I need to practice more. A lot of people have issues of this getting on their teeth, but I've never had that sort of problem with this
Oh, IT SMELLS LIKE STRAWBERRIES. Kind of artificial and too sweet, but not sickening. It's oddly pleasant. Like other water tints, it tastes bitter when you lick your lips. I don't find it painfully bitter, just not good. It's also really drying, like really. With 1 being "eh it's pretty nice, won't need chapstick" and 10 being "WHERES ALL THE VASELINE!?!?" I would rate this a 7.5. If you do purchase this, do bring a lip balm with you, because you WILL need it.
Other than that, I find this to last incredibly long even after eating, drinking, doing a presentation, and lots of talking. After a few hours, they fade evenly into a sheer pink. I love how it instantly brightens up my whole face, I can have no sleep at all and look horrible the next morning, but still look like I have my shit together with a dab of this tint.

In conclusion, Peripera's Peri's Tint Water in Strawberry Juice is an awesome lip tint with great pigmentation, gorgeous color, longevity, and no-fuss application, but it's very drying so get your lip balm ready! The price is also pretty reasonable, at KRW 7.000 if I'm not mistaken, a little more expensive than typical Korean tints, but still very cheap compared to higher end brands. You can get it at Amazon, Gmarket, etc. I got mine from KoreaBuys, the shipping took more than a month!!! My package did come very safely under layers of bubble wrap. But seriously, a month? A friend of mine ordered from them and got her package 3 days after. Maybe I wasn't lucky.
Before I get to the end of this post, let me just say that I'm currently obsessed with f(x)'s 4 Walls and Pink Tape album. I've been listening to Pink Tape since 2013 and it never gets old. Seriously, you need to check it out.
So that's the end of my review!
With lots of love, until next time.
